Finding Wisdom in God’s Word

How do we find wisdom to guide us in life?

Index

There are many distractions and temptations in life, and it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Many of us find ourselves struggling with anxiety, seeking fulfilment in the wrong places, and lacking wisdom to navigate through our daily challenges. But there is hope. The answer lies in feeding on the Word of God, gaining spiritual growth, and discovering the wisdom that will shape our lives.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

Nourish Yourself Regularly On God’s Word

The word “discipline” can evoke mixed feelings, and is sometimes seen as a negative thing. But the truth is that discipline is essential for achieving great things in life. Whether it’s about building a strong marriage, raising children, or pursuing your dreams, discipline plays a crucial role.

Just like a bodybuilder trains diligently to achieve physical strength, we need to cultivate discipline in our spiritual lives to grow and move forward.

Regularly reading the Bible and nourishing ourselves on God’s Word is a great place to begin practicing the discipline that will allow us to achieve our goals.

God Will Cause You To Grow Spiritually

How does spiritual growth come from discipline? We can’t make ourselves grow spiritually, but we can feed our spirits with the nutrients needed for growth. A bodybuilder’s muscles grow while they rest, and our spiritual growth is driven by the power of God.

God is the one who brings the increase, and our part is to nourish our souls with the Word of God. Reading and meditating on the Scriptures is like feeding our spirits with the nutrients they need to thrive.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

Jesus gave us a great example of this. Jesus was spiritually strong. He fed on the Word of God and when he was tempted in the wilderness, he was able to answer every challenge by speaking scripture.

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:3-4

You Will Find Power In The Word Of God

The Word of God is not just words on a page; God’s Word comes to live within us. By immersing ourselves in the Scriptures, we allow God to speak to us, guide us, and grow us.

But how do we know what is truly from the Word of God when there are so many people giving us advice on what the focus of our Christian walk should be? By knowing the real deal from the false. When the FBI counterfeit division trains its agents to identify counterfeit notes, they begin by studying the original so well that it becomes second nature to identify counterfeits. And if we closely study the Word of God, we can begin to discern truth from lies, wisdom from deception.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Wisdom For Your Life Will Come From The Word

The Word of God can help us become wise and guide our decision making process. Often when we think we have a problem in our marriage, career or finances, what we are really lacking is the wisdom in how to act in a way that brings success to our lives.

King Solomon had a lot of problems to solve. Not only in his own life, but he was responsible for solving the problems of his people. When God asked him what he wanted, Solomon asked God for an understanding heart to govern His people well. The gift of wisdom brought blessings to Solomon and all his people.

By seeking wisdom from God, we not only gain insight and discernment but also receive blessings beyond what we ask for. Wisdom is the foundation for making sound decisions, avoiding pitfalls, and leading a successful and fulfilling life.

How To Overcome Anxiety And Find Peace

The Word of God brings spiritual growth into our innermost hearts, as well as into how we conduct our lives. Today there is a lot of advice about how to deal with anxiety and depression. In Proverbs, God directs us to His Word.

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. Proverbs 12:25

Everyday Nourishment

It all begins with regularly reading the Word of God. Try setting aside a few minutes each day to read the Bible. If you’re not sure where to start, reach out to the LifeHouse team for a reading plan. Deciding on a regular time of day such as first thing in the morning, or just before you go to bed is a good start to a disciplined routine.

We know you’ll see spiritual growth and an increase in wisdom through reading the Word of God. We’d love to hear about your journey.
